St.Valentines Day began as a celebration of a Christian saint Valentinus. Severalstories were invented. A popular story says that he was put in jail forperforming weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. He was said tohave healed the daughter of his jailer and before his execution he wrote her aletter signed "Your Valentine". Now the day is associatedwith romantic love.
